Dr Helgi Rafn Hrodmarsson

Helgi Rafn Hrodmarsson is a research officer with the CNRS in France in the LISA laboratory in Créteil and holds an adjunct assistant professor position at the University of Iceland. Helgi finished their PhD in chemistry from the University of Iceland in 2016, is a Marie Curie fellow alumni from the Leiden Observatory, Netherlands, and held a postdoctoral position at the SOLEIL synchrotron in France. As a laboratory astrochemist, their research focuses on the spectroscopy and dynamics of molecules of astrophysical interest, covering small molecules, complex organic molecules (COMs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and fullerenes. Specifically, their work involves laboratory measurements involving (vacuum) ultraviolet light sources, both at synchrotrons and using laboratory sources, aimed at measuring photoabsorption, photodissociation, and photoionization cross sections which are made available in cross section databases.
